‘I look long at nature and am fascinated by the contrasting power and stillness of a landscape. Nature expresses life with a curious and interesting sense of directness and robustness, there are millions of years behind her developments and she keeps changing. I consider carefully and then, when I have made up my mind, I sketch quickly in the moment what I see and how I see it’.

‘The sketches are there but the end results wait. Working in the studio from photographs sketches and imagination I make the final work. My sketches and paintings are just a moment in time. The paints are fluid layers of translucent colours and touches of thick opaque oils.’

KENT

The following paintings were created in Kent at St. Margaret’s at Cliffe and Dover Port.

LARGE PANORAMA PAINTINGS

The panorama landscapes are painted with oil paint on unprimed linen stretched on board, to create the natural feeling of the landscape. The earthy colour of the raw material shows at places.

SCOTLAND

In April 2017 Jolanda walked the West Highland way with her dog. Carrying a rucksack some pencils and a tent.

8 days of wild camping and taking in the beautiful surroundings made her produce a range of oil paintings to remember the beauty, roughness,
loneliness, peace and her ever lasting love for the untouched nature and the mountains of Scotland.
